1850年2月28日に Brigham Young の指示で「University of Deseret（デザレット大学）」として創立され、1892年に現在の名称となった、ユタ州 Salt Lake City に位置する「ユタ州最古の高等教育機関」である名門公立研究大学です。「U of U」「Utah」「Utes（ユーツ族、ユタ州の先住民族）」の通称で広く知られ、州フラッグシップ校として運営されています。David Eccles School of Business、College of Engineering、School of Medicine（ユタ州初の医学校）、S.J.
