ディーキン大学は1974年にビクトリア州ジーロングに設立された公立大学で、現在はメルボルンのバーウッド、ジーロングのウォーターフロントとワーナンブールの4キャンパスを展開している。QS世界大学ランキング2025年版では世界233位に位置し、設立50年で急速に国際的評価を高めてきた。最大の特徴はオーストラリアのオンライン教育のパイオニアとしての実績で、1990年代から遠隔教育に取り組み、現在は約3万人がオンラインで学んでいる。スポーツ科学の分野ではQSランキングで世界トップ30に入り、オーストラリア国内では1位の評判を誇る。この分野ではオリンピック選手やプロスポーツチームとの連携も活発である。看護学、教育学、ビジネスでも高い評価を受けている。留学生向けの奨学金としてDeakin International Scholarshipがあり、授業料の最大100%をカバーするものもある。Good Universities Guideでは学生満足度で12年連続ビクトリア州1位を獲得している。ジーロングキャンパスはメルボルンから車で約1時間の港町に位置し、サーフィンの名所グレートオーシャンロードへのアクセスも良い。スポーツ科学を世界トップレベルで学びたい人や、柔軟な学習スタイルを求める人に最適な大学である。
