ノートルダム大学オーストラリアは1989年に設立されたオーストラリア初のカトリック系私立大学で、西オーストラリア州フリーマントルにメインキャンパスを構えている。シドニーとブルームにもキャンパスを展開している。アメリカの名門ノートルダム大学と姉妹校関係にあり、カトリックの教育理念に基づいた少人数制教育を特色としている。THE世界大学ランキングでは順位付けされていないが、オーストラリア国内では教育の質で高い評判を得ている。最大の特徴は学生対教員比率の低さで、Good Universities Guideでは教育の質、学習者エンゲージメント、学生サポートの各項目で最高評価の5つ星を獲得している。医学部、法学部、看護学部、教育学部が人気プログラムであり、特に医学部は農村部医療への貢献で知られている。卒業生の就職率は非常に高く、進路サポートも手厚い。留学生向けの奨学金も用意されている。フリーマントルキャンパスはパースのフリーマントル港に面した歴史的な建造物群の中に位置し、19世紀の石造り倉庫を改装した校舎はオーストラリアで最もユニークなキャンパスの一つである。小規模な大学でパーソナルな教育を受けたい人、カトリックの価値観に共感する人に向いた大学である。
