西オーストラリア大学（UWA）は1911年に設立された西オーストラリア州最古の大学であり、Group of Eight（Go8）の一員としてオーストラリアのトップ研究大学に位置づけられている。QS世界大学ランキング2025年版では世界77位にランクインしている。パース市中心部からスワン川沿いに約5km西のクローリーに位置するメインキャンパスは、地中海リバイバル様式の砂岩建築と手入れの行き届いた庭園で「オーストラリアで最も美しいキャンパス」の一つとされている。海洋科学、農学、鉱業・鉱物工学の分野でQSランキング世界トップ50にランクインしており、特に海洋科学では世界的な研究拠点として認められている。バリー・マーシャル教授がヘリコバクター・ピロリ菌の発見でノーベル生理学・医学賞を受賞しており、医学研究でも卓越した実績を持つ。留学生向けの奨学金としてGlobal Excellence Scholarshipがあり、授業料の最大45,000豪ドルが免除される。パースは世界で最も孤立した大都市と称されるが、美しいビーチ、温暖な気候、高い生活水準で知られ、世界で最も住みやすい都市の上位に常にランクインしている。難易度は高いが、Go8の中では比較的入学しやすい部類に入る。海洋科学や鉱業工学に興味がある人、美しい環境でハイレベルな研究に取り組みたい人に最適な進路である。
