大学概要
フェデレーション大学オーストラリアは、1870年にバララット鉱山学校として設立された歴史を持ち、オーストラリアで3番目に古い高等教育機関の系譜を引く公立大学である。2014年にバララット大学からフェデレーション大学に改名した。ビクトリア州バララット、ギプスランド、ウィマラに複数のキャンパスを展開し、地方都市における高等教育のアクセス向上に貢献している。THE世界大学ランキング2024年版では世界501-600位に位置する。最大の特徴は150年以上にわたる技術教育・職業教育の伝統で、TAFEコースから学士号、修士号まで一貫したパスウェイを提供している点である。情報技術、ビジネス、教育学、工学技術の分野で実践的なプログラムが評判を集めている。Good Universities Guideでは教育の質とスキル開発の項目で高評価を得ている。留学生向けの奨学金としてInternational Excellence Scholarshipがあり、授業料の最大25%が免除される。バララットはメルボルンから車で約1時間半のゴールドラッシュの歴史が息づく街で、生活費はメルボルンの半分程度に抑えられる。難易度は比較的低めで門戸が広い。コストを重視しつつ実践的な職業教育を受けたい学生に向いた進路といえる。
