大学の概要
コンコルディア大学は、フランス語圏モントリオールにありながら英語で学位が取れる、ケベック州を代表する英語系総合大学です。フランス語が公用語のケベックで学びたいが授業は英語で受けたいという留学生にとって、コンコルディアは入学から卒業までを英語で完結できる有力な選択肢の一つです。1974年、YMCAの夜間教育に起源を持つサー・ジョージ・ウィリアムズ大学と、イエズス会が1896年に設立したロヨラ・カレッジが合併して誕生し、大学名はモントリオール市の標語「Concordia salus（調和による繁栄）」に由来します。
看板の一つジョン・モルソン・スクール・オブ・ビジネスは、ブルームバーグ・ビジネスウィーク2025-26でカナダの経営大学院第1位に選ばれています。映画・美術分野も強く、メル・ホッペンハイム映画学校はカナダ最大規模の大学系映画教育機関で、北米最大級の美術学部に属します。企業での有給就労を学業に組み込むコープ（Co-op）教育が充実し、卒業後の就職・進路に直結する実学志向が特徴です。成績優秀者には入学時の給付型奨学金（entrance scholarship）が用意され、出願時の学業成績が合否と奨学金の両方を左右します。
QS世界大学ランキングでは世界500位圏内、Maclean'sの総合大学部門でも上位に位置し、Times Higher Educationの設立50年未満の若い大学ランキングでは北米第1位の評価を受けています。ダウンタウンのサー・ジョージ・ウィリアムズと郊外ロヨラの2キャンパスを持ち、英語で学位を取りつつ実践的なキャリア形成を目指す人に向いた大学です。
