大学概要
シドニー工科大学（UTS）は1988年に設立された公立大学で、その前身は1843年設立のシドニー力学学校にまで遡る。QS世界大学ランキング2025年版では世界88位にランクインし、オーストラリアのトップ10大学に入る実力を持つ。シドニー中心部のウルティモ・ヘイマーケット地区に位置するキャンパスは、フランク・ゲーリーが設計したDr Chau Chak Wing Buildingをはじめとする先鋭的な建築群で知られ、セントラル駅から徒歩圏内という抜群のアクセスを誇る。看護学ではQSランキングで世界20位にランクインし、デザイン、コンピュータサイエンス、コミュニケーション学でも世界トップ100の評価を受けている。「Practice-oriented」な教育を重視し、産業界との連携が極めて強い。オーストラリアで最も多くのスタートアップを生み出す大学の一つとしても知られ、起業家精神を育む環境が整っている。留学生向けの奨学金としてUTS International Scholarshipがあり、成績優秀者に授業料の最大50%を免除する。難易度は年々上昇しており、人気プログラムは競争が激しい。シドニーの中心部という立地はインターンシップや就職に大きなアドバンテージとなる。テクノロジーやデザインの最前線で学び、卒業後すぐにキャリアに直結させたい人に最適な大学である。
