クイーンズランド大学（UQ）は1909年に設立されたクイーンズランド州最古の大学であり、Group of Eight（Go8）の一員としてオーストラリアを代表する名門研究大学である。QS世界大学ランキング2025年版では世界40位にランクインし、オーストラリア国内でも常にトップ5に入る評価を受けている。ブリスベン市中心部からバスで約20分のセントルシアにメインキャンパスを構え、ブリスベン川沿いに広がる美しいサンドストーンの建築群は「オーストラリアで最も美しいキャンパス」と評されることもある。環境科学、スポーツ関連分野、鉱業・鉱物工学でQSランキング世界トップ20にランクインしており、特にスポーツ関連分野では世界2位という評判を持つ。ノーベル賞受賞者1名を輩出し、COVID-19ワクチン開発への貢献など先端的な研究でも知られている。約54,000人の学生のうち留学生が約30%を占め、140カ国以上からの学生が集う国際的な環境である。奨学金制度としてUQ International Scholarshipがあり、成績優秀な留学生に授業料の最大50%を免除する。難易度は高く、特に医学部・獣医学部は入学競争が激しい。ブリスベンは温暖な亜熱帯気候で年間を通じて過ごしやすく、シドニーやメルボルンに比べて生活費が安い。世界ランキング上位の研究環境と温暖な生活環境の両方を求める人に、UQは理想的な選択肢である。
