西シドニー大学は1989年に設立されたニューサウスウェールズ州の公立大学で、シドニー西部地域に7つのキャンパスを展開するオーストラリア最大規模の大学の一つである。QS世界大学ランキング2025年版では世界315位にランクインしている。最大の特徴はシドニー西部というオーストラリアで最も急速に成長している地域に根差した大学であり、2026年開業予定の西シドニー空港周辺に新たなエアロトロポリス・キャンパスの建設を計画している。農学・林学の分野ではQSランキングで世界トップ100にランクインしており、ホークスベリーキャンパスには大規模な農業研究施設を擁している。看護学、教育学、社会科学でも高い評価を受けている。THE Impact Rankingsでは世界トップ5にランクインし、国連の持続可能な開発目標（SDGs）への貢献で極めて高い評価を得ている。留学生向けの奨学金としてWSU International Scholarshipがあり、授業料の最大50%が免除される。シドニー西部はシドニーCBDに比べて生活費が大幅に安く、多文化的なコミュニティが形成されている。社会貢献や持続可能な開発に関心がある人、シドニーで学びたいがコストを抑えたい人にとって、西シドニー大学は検討すべき選択肢である。
