チャールズ・ダーウィン大学（CDU）は2003年にノーザンテリトリー大学とセントラリアンカレッジの統合により設立された公立大学で、オーストラリア北部唯一の大学である。メインキャンパスはノーザンテリトリーの州都ダーウィン近郊のカスアリーナに位置し、熱帯気候の中で独自の教育・研究を展開している。THE世界大学ランキング2024年版では世界201-250位に位置し、設立から20年余りで急速にランキングを上昇させている注目の大学である。特に環境科学と生態学の分野では世界的に高い評価を受けており、北部オーストラリアの独特な生態系を活用した熱帯研究が最大の強みである。先住民族研究においてもオーストラリアを代表する研究拠点であり、アボリジナル文化の保存と継承に貢献している。留学生比率は約30%と高く、アジア太平洋地域からの学生が多い国際的な環境である。奨学金制度としてVice-Chancellor's International High Achievers Scholarshipがあり、優秀な留学生に授業料の最大50%減免を提供している。ダーウィンはアジアに最も近いオーストラリアの主要都市であり、独自の多文化的雰囲気を持つ。熱帯環境科学や先住民研究に関心がある学生にとって、他では得られない学びの場となるだろう。
