サザンクイーンズランド大学（UniSQ）は1967年にクイーンズランド工科大学ダーリングダウンズ校として設立され、1992年に大学として独立した公立大学である。クイーンズランド州トゥーウンバにメインキャンパスを構え、スプリングフィールドとイプスウィッチにもキャンパスを展開している。THE世界大学ランキング2024年版では世界501-600位に位置している。最大の特徴はオーストラリアで最も充実した遠隔教育プログラムの一つを提供している点で、全学生の約75%がオンラインで学んでいる。天文学と宇宙科学の研究ではNASAとの共同プロジェクトを複数手がけており、Mt Kent天文台での観測研究は国際的に高い評判を持つ。工学、農学、教育学の分野でも実践的なプログラムが強みである。留学生向けの奨学金としてInternational Student Scholarshipがあり、授業料の最大20%が免除される。トゥーウンバはブリスベンから西に約130km、ダーリングダウンズの高台に位置する「ガーデンシティ」と呼ばれる人口約13万人の地方都市で、温暖な気候と低い生活費が魅力である。難易度は比較的低めで門戸が広い。オンライン学習の柔軟性を求める人、天文学に興味がある人、コストを抑えて学びたい人に適した大学である。
