大学概要
ニューカッスル大学は1965年にニューサウスウェールズ州ニューカッスルに設立された公立研究大学である。メインのカラハンキャンパスはニューカッスル市内中心部から約12kmに位置し、140ヘクタールのブッシュランドに囲まれた環境である。QS世界大学ランキング2025年版では世界173位にランクインしている。最大の特徴は工学と医学の分野での卓越した研究実績で、特にエネルギー研究においてオーストラリアをリードする存在である。ニューカッスルはかつて石炭産業で栄えた工業都市であり、同大学はこの地域のクリーンエネルギーへの転換を学術面から牽引している。建築学でもQSランキングで世界トップ100に入る評判を持つ。2018年にはシドニーCBDにハニーサックルキャンパスを開設し、都市部へのアクセスも拡大した。留学生向けの奨学金としてInternational Postgraduate Research Scholarshipがあり、優秀な大学院生に授業料全額免除と生活費支援を提供している。ニューカッスルはシドニーから電車で約2時間半、美しいビーチと再開発が進む港湾エリアが魅力の都市で、シドニーより生活費が大幅に安い。エネルギー工学や医学に関心があり、研究に打ち込みたい人にとって、ニューカッスル大学は優れた選択肢である。
