ウーロンゴン大学は1975年にニューサウスウェールズ大学から独立して設立された公立研究大学である。QS世界大学ランキング2025年版では世界162位にランクインし、オーストラリアのトップ12大学の一つとして高い評判を持つ。シドニーから南へ約80kmの海岸都市ウーロンゴンに位置するメインキャンパスは、イラワラ断崖と太平洋の間に広がる美しい自然環境に囲まれている。最大の特徴は工学とコンピュータサイエンスの分野での卓越した研究実績で、特に材料工学と溶接技術の研究では世界的に認められた拠点である。QSランキングの工学分野では世界トップ100にランクインしている。教育学も世界トップ100の評価を受けており、幅広い分野で高い学術水準を維持している。留学生比率は約40%と非常に高く、70カ国以上からの学生が集う国際色豊かな環境である。奨学金制度としてUOW International Scholarshipがあり、授業料の最大30%が免除される。ウーロンゴンはサーフィンの名所としても知られるビーチタウンで、シドニーの喧騒から離れつつも電車で約90分でアクセスできる。生活費はシドニーより大幅に安い。工学やIT分野を志し、海辺のリラックスした環境で集中して学びたい人にとって、ウーロンゴン大学は最適な選択肢の一つである。
